Capture Handwritten Notes

Prefer writing by hand? AlignCore can photograph your handwritten notes and transcribe them into your journal entry.

How It Works

1

Click the Camera Icon

Find the camera button in the journal editor toolbar.
2

Take a Photo

Point your camera at your handwritten notes and capture the image.
3

AlignCore Processes It

The image is analyzed using OCR (optical character recognition) to extract the text.
4

Review the Transcription

The extracted text appears in your editor. Review and edit as needed.

Tips for Better Results

Natural light or bright, even lighting works best. Avoid shadows across your writing.
The clearer your handwriting, the better the transcription. Print tends to work better than cursive.
Photograph your notes on a flat surface to avoid distortion.
Get close enough that your writing fills most of the image, but keep all text visible.

What Gets Captured

The OCR system handles:
  • Printed text (high accuracy)
  • Clear handwriting (good accuracy)
  • Cursive writing (moderate accuracy - may need editing)
  • Mixed content (text with some drawings or diagrams)
Complex layouts, very messy handwriting, or low-quality images may not transcribe well. You can always type in what the system missed.

Privacy

Images you capture are:
  • Processed securely to extract text
  • Not stored permanently after processing
  • Never used to train AI models
Only the extracted text becomes part of your journal entry, not the image itself.
