Voice Journaling

Sometimes typing feels like too much effort. AlignCore’s voice input lets you speak your thoughts and have them transcribed in real-time.

How to Use Voice Input

1

Open the Journal

Navigate to the Journal page from the sidebar.
2

Click the Microphone

Find the microphone icon in the editor toolbar.
3

Allow Microphone Access

Your browser will request permission. Click “Allow” to continue.
4

Start Speaking

Talk naturally. Your words appear as text in real-time.
5

Click Stop When Done

Click the microphone again to stop recording.

Tips for Better Transcription

You don’t need to speak slowly or robotically. Normal conversational pace works best.
Find a quiet space when possible. The transcription handles some noise, but quieter is better.
Your device’s built-in mic works, but a headset or external mic improves accuracy.
Transcription isn’t perfect. Scan through and fix any errors before submitting.

What Gets Transcribed

AlignCore uses advanced speech recognition that handles:
  • Natural speech patterns including “um” and pauses
  • Multiple languages (English and Spanish supported)
  • Technical terms and proper nouns (with varying accuracy)
Voice transcription has a daily limit of 60 minutes to manage costs. This resets each day.

Troubleshooting

  1. Check browser permissions (Settings → Privacy → Microphone)
  2. Make sure no other app is using the microphone
  3. Try refreshing the page
  1. Speak more clearly
  2. Reduce background noise
  3. Try a different microphone
  4. Edit the text manually after speaking
  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Move closer to your WiFi router
  3. Try stopping and restarting the recording

Combining Voice and Typing

You can switch between voice and typing freely:
  1. Start typing your thoughts
  2. Switch to voice when you want to talk through something
  3. Edit the transcription
  4. Continue typing
This hybrid approach works great for many people.
